Monument Circle is in the center of Indianapolis. It is a traffic circle at the intersection of Market and Meridian Streets. Directly in the center of the traffic circle lies the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument is featured to native Hoosiers that fought in the armed services during the American Revolution, War of 1812, Mexican-American War, and the Civil War. The circle is surrounded by local radio stations, small retail shops, financial institutions, a social club, the Hilbert Circle Theater (which is the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra's home), and an Episcopal Cathedral. Every year, the city hosts the Circle of Lights, decorating the circle with beautiful lights and a huge Christmas tree. The circle is also home to many public events, as well as the annual art display with an Indy 500 theme.
